Hello,
my name is Russell Schwartz. When I was young, growing
up in a small town on the eastern shore of Maryland,
there was a pork sausage on the market that was just
wonderful.
The
sausage was made in Pokomoke City by an African - American
family named Johnson. Years went by and the Johnson's
passed away taking their recipe with them.
I
set about to see if I could come up with a blend of
spices and herbs that could come close to the Johnson
recipe. After many, many, many various concoctions,
I came up with what is now called "RUSSELL'S
FAMOUS All Purpose Seasoning"
For
over twenty years, I used this seasoning to make the
sausage served in the highly acclaimed restaurant "The
Old South Mountain Inn", located in Boonsboro ,
Md. Customers raved over the taste of the sausage.
I
also found that this seasoning works exceptionally well
with other dishes such as seasoned bacon, fried chicken,
mashed potatoes etc. (see RECIPES).
Because it is so versatile, I decided to share it with
the world.
